The Frey Family

“It truly did become our home away from home! Dawson is now 17 years old and she still looks forward to every visit.“
“Our first experience with Ronald McDonald House was when Dawson was born. She was born prematurely, with Down Syndrome and a heart defect. These were all surprises to us that we were not able to prepare for.
She was immediately flown to the NICU at RUH (in the days before JPCH!) where she stayed for 10 days. It was suggested to us shortly after we arrived in Saskatoon, to try the Ronald McDonald House if we needed a place to stay.
The RMH felt like a home away from home immediately. The staff and volunteers did so many little extras that made the house so warm and inviting. It also didn’t take long before we were meeting other families in similar situations. There was a certain amount of comfort in knowing that we weren’t going down this path alone, that there were other families that had their own worries, yet we could provide comfort and solace to each other.
The RMH became a permanent fixture in our lives as we utilized the house for the many appointments that Dawson had. The average year we were traveling to Saskatoon for 14 to 17 appointments. It truly did become our home away from home! Dawson is now 17 years old and she still looks forward to every visit.”
